A seasoned professional in the legal sector, Mrs. Oluwatoyin A. Odusanya is a Member of the Nigerian Bar Association, International Bar Association, Chartered Institute of Mediators and Conciliators, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.
Mrs. Odusanya had her primary and secondary school education in London, UK,at St. Mary’s Nursery and Primary School and Hornsey High School for Girls, respectively. She came back to Nigeria to continue her secondary school education at Abeokuta Girls Grammar School Abeokuta in Ogun State. She proceeded to the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos where she obtained her first degree in History (B.A Hons.) in 1984.
In quest for more knowledge, Oluwatoyin went further to obtain another degree in Law (LLB) in 1988 at the same University. She was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1990. In 2006, she obtained a Master’s degree inLaw (LLM) from the University of Lagos where she majored in Labour Law, Family Law, Conflict of Laws, Human Rights; etc. Oluwatoyin did her National Youth Service at Amfa Insurance Consultants as an Administrative Officer.
An astute Legal Practitioner, Mrs. Odusanya started her sojourn in the Lagos State Civil Service at the Lagos State Ministry of Justice as a Legal officer in1994. With hardwork and dedication, she rose to the position of a deputy director having worked in several departments of the Ministry including the directorate of Advisory Services where she was involved in issuing legal advice to government and its agencies; responding to petitions; legal research and representing government in employment matters amongst others.
Mrs. Odusanya has also worked in the directorate of legislative drafting where she was charged with the responsibility of serving as secretary to the Criminal Code Law Reform Committee, defending the State Government in Chieftaincy matters, drafting amendment of obsolete and archaic laws and issuing legal opinions.
With an experience that spans over two decades, Oluwatoyin Odusanya is well grounded in filing actions on behalf of the State Government, especially, against tax defaulters, defending the State Government in Civil matters, instituting actions on behalf of the State Government in Court, revenue matters and reviewing of contracts.
Before her engagement with the Lagos State Government, Mrs. Odusanya had worked in private practice. She had many judgments in her favour. Presently, she is the Head of the Citizens’ Mediation Centre.A strict adherer to details, Mrs. Odusanya is a disciplined worker and a team leader.
