OBA ONIBA KIDNAPPED CASE…
HEARING TO COME UP AGAIN ON TUESDAY 28TH FEBURARY 2017
Hon. Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Lagos State High Court, Igbosere today adjourned the case of kidnapping of the Oniba of Iba land Oba Yisau Oseni to Tuesday 28th February 2017. The matter came up today when a prosecuting witness Dr. Grace Eze of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja was led in a cross examination by the prosecuting counsel, Mr Jide Martins, an Assistant Director in the Office of Public Prosecution, Lagos State Ministry of Justice. He cross examined Dr. Eze on the treatment she and her team gave to Olori Iyabo Oseni the day she was brought into the emergency ward of the Hospital.
In her response, Dr.Eze confirmed that the patient [Olori Iyabo Oseni] was brought to the hospital in the early hours of the morning of 16th july, 2016.
According to her, the patient was observed to have sustained wounds consistent with gunshot. On admission the patient was in shock and her blood pressure was low. That was why she decided to carry out an emergency operation on her. The operation was carried out purposely to save the patient’s life.
The defense counsel to the accused while cross examining Dr. Eze asked her to confirm if the three wounds sustained by the Olori was consistent with that from a gunshot. The witness responded in the affirmative.
After, the evidence of the prosecuting witness had been taken and a thorough cross examination by the defense, Hon. Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo adjourned the matter till Tuesday 28th February, 2017, when more prosecuting witnesses will be presented before the court.
It would be recalled that the Oniba of Iba kidnap incident of July 16th 2016 is been prosecuted by the Lagos State Government.
