The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Lagos State, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem has praised the Judges, Magistrates, Prisons, EFCC, Ministry of Justice (DPP, OPD and Community Service Unit) for their unrelenting efforts to move the State forward in their various contributions. The HAG/CJ stated this at the Inaugural Meeting of the Criminal Justice Sector Reform Committee (CJSRC) under the Leadership of the Hon. Chief Judge of Lagos State, Hon. Opeyemi Oke. The essence of the inter – agency meetings is to ensure periodic discussion on the challenges facing the criminal justice system in the State and find practical solutions by implementing the ideas and views of members in various agencies and Ministry of Justice.
Lagos is the first to have a justice reform team and the reforms that have been implemented are being used by other State Justice reform teams all over the country. The state hosted the Conference of Justice Reform Team with representation from 26 States across Nigeria.
The HAG/CJ thanked the stakeholders and encouraged them to do more. According to him, the State Governor Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode is a man with deep passion for reform, especially in the Justice sector and is willing to support initiatives that will ensure that his vision for a crime – free State is achieved.
